A narrow mountain stream carves its way through the Cradle Mountain wilderness, its rushing water framed by sculptural, bonsai-like native foliage. Soft fog settles over the landscape, softening the horizon and deepening the inherent sense of solitude.

BONSAI

Captured within the ancient wilderness of Tasmania’s Cradle Mountain, Bonsai embodies the power and resilience found throughout the island’s wild heart. Water cascades through a narrow channel, framed by sculptural native foliage reminiscent of a delicately shaped bonsai. The slow-formed artwork that is nature. Mist softens the distant ranges, blanketing the landscape.

Bonsai was featured in the artists second solo show, ’Untamed Tasmania, held at the Cradle Mountain Wilderness Gallery from January to April 27, 2025. The exhibition explored themes of awe, endurance, and the magnetic pull of landscapes shaped by time. The series honoured totems of survival and strength. Places where danger and beauty meet and where an untouched wilderness exerts its own siren song.
